Your mental world
Want to check out the global music scene? Experience Zakir Hussain and the Masters of Percussion or Kahil El’Zabar. Need a new late-night scene? Check out the eclectic mix of Afterglow performances. Or for something a bit more local, watch your fellow students perform in College of Fine and Applied Arts productions like Henry IV, Part I, Armide, or Studiodance II.
Your financial world
Both University of Illinois students and students high-school age and younger get great discounts on tickets. And for UI students, we hold some of the best seats in the house for you to buy. We call them Hot Seats, and they are available from the time you receive a season brochure in the spring through September for Marquee events that take place during the months September-December, or through January for Marquee events that take place from the months of January-May. For even more benefits, students can join the Loop for just $25 and receive invitations to special donor events, get recognition in the Krannert Center lobby and in the annual report, receive mailings announcing Creative Intersections activities, and enjoy a 5% discount on regularly priced merchandise at The Promenade and on lunches at Intermezzo (between 11am and 2pm).
And to help stretch your student budget even further, we offer lots of free events, such as noontime Interval concerts and 5pm Traffic Jam events in Krannert Center's lobby; late-night Afterglow concerts; and Creative Intersections sessions that invite you to meet face-to-face with Krannert Center artists. Free tours are offered every day at 3pm when classes are in session. Also, take advantage of $5 to $10 seats for fantastic performances in the Foellinger Great Hall, new this season!
Your social world
Free parking, reasonably priced tickets, a place to have dessert after the show: You can't beat it for a night out.
Forgot your best friend's birthday? Get to The Promenade, Krannert Center's gift shop, for shopping you won't find anywhere else in town. The Promenade features cards, jewelry, journals, posters, T-shirts, chocolate, and more -- from elegant to bizarre and from serious to playful.
Want a community of friends? Join the Krannert Center Student Association (KCSA) for evenings of fun and great projects that support the arts in Champaign-Urbana. You can see lots of performances for free by serving as an usher. You can indulge your desire to be onstage by participating in On The Rocks, an annual presentation of one-act plays written, produced, and acted by students. Or you can help plan and enjoy the many outings and social activities for KCSA members. You can also visit the KCSA's blog Callboard to get the behind-the-scenes scoop on productions and events around the center.
Your stomach's world
This one ties together finances, socializing, and nutrition. Check out Intermezzo for breakfast, lunch, and dinner or dessert before and after performances. Our reasonably priced healthy lunch menu offers a great break from your studies. To celebrate acing that final- -- or just getting through it -- indulge in one of our more decadent specialty desserts.
